Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Msizi Omkhulu (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/340668/07), trading as Send My CV, is a Responsible Party as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).
We provide two services to residents of South Africa, both free and both offered only through this website:
- Building and editing a CV. You answer questions about yourself and we turn the answers into a one-page PDF CV you can download, print or email. You can also join your own documents behind it — see section 3.
- Finding a job. We show job listings gathered from public sources and link you to the employer’s own application page.
Those two are the whole of the service. We are not an employment agency, we do not apply for jobs on your behalf, and we do not receive or handle your applications.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us directly when you build a CV or sign in:
- Identity: your full name
- Contact: your email address, which is also how you sign in; and your phone number if you choose to put it on your CV
- Location: the city or town you live in
- Education: qualification level, field of study, institution
- Employment: job titles, employers, cities, dates and duties
- Skills, languages, a short profile statement and your availability
- Your references: the name, job title, employer and phone number of the people you list as references on your CV
2.2 Special personal information (optional)
With your explicit consent, and only if you choose to share it, we may also collect race and gender for Employment Equity reporting on your CV, and your right-to-work status. These fields are entirely optional, you may skip them at any time, and they do not appear on your CV if you do not provide them.
3. How we collect your information
From you directly, through the forms on this website — when you build a CV, when you sign in, and when you contact us. We do not buy personal information and we do not collect it from anyone but you.
The documents you add behind your CV are the exception: we never receive them at all.
If you choose to join your own documents to your CV — a matric certificate, an ID copy, a driver’s licence, anything else an employer has asked for — the joining happens on your own phone or computer, inside your browser. The files are not uploaded to us. There is no part of our service that receives them, and nothing about them is written down anywhere on our side: not the file, not its name, not the fact that you added one. The finished PDF is saved straight to your device.
This is deliberate. An ID document is exactly the kind of information that does real harm when it leaks, and the surest way to protect it is never to hold it. It also means that when you delete your CV, there is nothing of your documents for us to delete — we never had them.
Please still be careful who you send the finished pack to. Send an ID copy only when an employer has actually asked for it, and never attach one to a public advert.
4. Why we use your information
For the CV service: to build and store your CV, to let you sign back in and change it, and to email your CV to you when you ask.
About the references you list. Those details belong to the person you named, not to you. We store them only so that you do not have to type them in again each time you edit your CV, and we use them for nothing else — we do not contact your references, and we do not share their details with anyone. Please ask a person before you list them. If a reference asks to be removed, tell us and we will delete their details, or you can remove them yourself from your CV.
For the job service: to show you listings near where you live.
And across both: to keep the service secure and working, and to understand which pages and listings are useful. We do not use your information for anything else, and we do not profile you for advertising.
5. Who we share your information with
Our hosting and database providers, our email provider, and analytics providers — each only so far as they need it to run the service. We do not sell your information and we do not share it with employers unless you send it to them yourself.
The documents you join behind your CV are shared with nobody, because they never reach us in the first place (section 3).
6. International transfers
Our servers and database are hosted in the European Union, which POPIA recognises as offering comparable protection to South African law.
7. How long we keep your information
An unfinished CV is deleted after 14 days. A finished CV is deleted 30 days after you last use the service — automatically, every day, without you having to ask. Using it means anything real: signing in, opening or editing your CV, browsing jobs. It does not mean receiving an email from us. Feedback and contact-form messages are kept for 2 years, with your name removed.
Reference details are part of your CV and are kept and deleted with it — when your CV goes, so do they.
Documents you join behind your CV are kept for no time at all: we never receive them, so there is nothing to keep and nothing to delete.
8. Your rights under POPIA
You may ask to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. You may object to how we use it, and you may complain to the Information Regulator. We answer these requests free of charge.
You can delete your CV and everything attached to it yourself, from the menu inside your CV, without asking us.
9. Security
Your CV is held in an access-controlled database. Sign-in is by a one-time code sent to your email address or by Google sign-in — there is no password for anyone to steal or reuse. Traffic to this site is encrypted.
10. Children
The service is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
11. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies: one that keeps you signed in, and one that remembers your cookie choice.
We record which job listings are tapped so that we know which ones are useful. That record is anonymous — it stores the listing and the time, and nothing about the person who tapped it. We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are used, and we do not use advertising trackers.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will publish the new version here with a new version number and date.
13. How to complain
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, email first and we will try to put it right. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa), JD House, 27 Stiemens Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, 2001 — inforeg@justice.gov.za, inforegulator.org.za.
